Beware of HMRC errors

This week Georgia managed to sort a client’s PAYE credit due to an HMRC error. She also sorted a client’s sole trade PAYE scheme, got the fines removed and the scheme closed – which should’ve happened long ago!

Tax planning

Last year we implemented a long term tax planning strategy for a client. This year they have benefitted from a tax bill that was £26,741 lower than it ordinarily would have been. You can imagine how happy they are!

Paperless

For some time now, we have been aiming to use less paper. At Numbers we are now almost completely paperless, and the content of our numerous filing cabinets has been scanned and stored safely and securely in the ‘cloud’.

In addition to this, we are excited to be offering to plant a tree for each client who agrees to our paperless payroll initiative. The National Forest will be planting our trees – at no cost to our clients – when they agree to the scheme, and our payroll clients will be receiving an email over the next few months. As we strive to take care of our environment, our hope is that we are ‘Making Lives Better’ for us, and our families – now, and for future generations.

You can also get involved personally here.

If making people happier, more relaxed, and hopeful for the future is something that you buy into, then you’d fit right in at Numbers.

Here at Numbers we are passionate about ‘MAKING LIVES BETTER’ – in fact, it’s what makes us want to get up and come into work every day. This drive means that we devote all our energy into making lives better for our clients, and everyone we come into contact with during the day … and that includes our team!

People are the heart of our firm, so we aim to do the extra to make sure they feel valued.

Here at Numbers we call ourselves ‘team’, and we truly are. More than that, as a family owned firm we have a family feel – looking out for one another, as well as our clients, and wanting everyone to feel part of that family. This means that we ‘go the extra mile’ to make sure we support each other too.

As in families, we are all different – and we welcome individuality and creativity. We want you to feel able to be yourself, with all the unique possibilities that presents to the firm and our clients.

Dynamic and innovative minds are celebrated, and we get a buzz out of shared ideas and feedback! We might be a firm of chartered accountants, but that doesn’t mean we want to be stuck in the past. Imagine how boring that would be … and how little that would benefit our clients?

As a team we strive for excellence in all we do, and choose to have a positive attitude every day – helping us in our quest for ‘Making Lives Better’. We work hard, but also have lots of fun along the way!

We are proud of who we are, and what we do at Numbers.

We all work hard to provide the best service that we can possibly give, and would ask that you work hard too – treating others with respect, with honesty and integrity. We also want you to catch our vision, we are immensely proud of the Numbers brand.

Many of our team started with us as apprentices, or in more junior roles, and are now managers, and one has equity in the firm, so there are plenty of opportunities for personal development if you’re keen to study for extra qualifications or learn other skills. Our aim is to support, coach, and provide the resources to enable our team to grow as people, and as professionals.

Making Lives Better in South Africa

Georgia was busy Making Lives Better last month when she visited an orphanage in South Africa, and helped run a holiday club for 100 kids aged 2-16.
She took a group of young people from the Plymouth area to help.

VAT saved

Our client was pleased that we saved £828.72 on his VAT bill last week – a nice bit of holiday spending money!
We saved another two clients £9456.68 and over £12000 in VAT reclaims – enough for a holiday AND spending money!

If you think you are paying too much tax – get in touch.
